Carlisle Fire Company was dispatched to an MVC at the intersection of Bay Road and Thompsonville Road. Upon arrival, A-42 reported a box truck had run into the back of a tractor trailer, with the driver of the box truck trapped. Kent Center then upgraded the response to a Delta response, adding both Sussex County medic 101 and Trooper II to the response. Upon arrival, Chief Carpenter established Bay Road command, with the Rescue crew beginning stabilization and extrication. Fire Police were advised to shut down Bay Road south bound completely during the operation. Engine 42-5 was advised to pull an 1 3/4" trash line as well as assist the Rescue with extrication. Engine 42-4 responded and was given the assignment of setting up a landing zone south of the accident scene on Bay Road. During the operation, it was established that the box truck was transporting construction supplies. The driver was extricated and Command placed the incident under control at 07:38hrs. The driver was transported by Trooper II to Christiana Hospital. Units remained on scene until 08:26 am.
