Tuesday, October 6, 2009 - Tyson Dickerson, who has been a fire chief in Maryland, has been named Lexington’s first paid fire and emergency medical services chief.
Lexington City Manager Jon Ellestad announced the appointment this morning.
Dickerson comes to Lexington from College Park, Md., where he was the chief of the volunteer College Park Fire Department and volunteer division chief of the Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Department. His daytime job was as vice president of the Livingston Fire Protection Company.
“Mr. Dickerson brings an extensive level of experience in providing professional fire and EMS services through the use of volunteers,” said Ellestad. “This experience enhances the city’s desire to support the efforts of our existing volunteers to provide these critical services to our residents.”
The decision to hire Dickerson was made by a joint committee of the city, the Lexington Volunteer Fire Department and the Lexington Lifesaving and First Aid Crew. Dickerson will report to work on Nov. 2.
Carlisle Fire Company wishes Tyson success in many years to come
