Monday, January 23, 2012 On Monday January 23rd 2012, @ 0335hrs, The Carlisle Fire Company was dispatched to a reported chicken house and barn fire. Command 42 responded with Fire Captain 42-20 (Justin Konesey) and was advised by the Call Board they were upgrading the Alarm to a working structure fire. Command 42 requested a tanker assist from Sta 52 Houston and a coverup from Sta 75 Ellendale and Sta 89 Slaughter Beach to Sta 42.Command 42 went on scene with a fully involved pickup truck on fire with an exposure to a chicken house. Engine 42-4 arrived on scene under the direction of 42-15 (William Carpenter) and placed one 1 3/4 hand line in service. Tanker 42 arrived on scene and supplied Engine 4 with the crew assisting in hose line operations. Command then advised remaining incoming units to stage on roadway and placed scene under control @ 0350hrs with all units working until appx 0415hrs awaiting the arrival of FM unit. Units responding: Engine 42-4, Engine 42-2, Engine 42-5, Tanker 42, Engine 52, Tanker 52, Engine 75, Engine 89, 42 Fire Police, and Delaware FM Unit
Friday, January 20, 2012 On Friday January 20th 2012, The Carlisle Fire Company was dispatched to a compost shed on fire in the 600 block of Log Cabin Rd. Command 42 responded with Fire Captain 42-20 ( Justin Konesey ), as the Kent County Call Board also alerted Sta. 57, South Bowers for an assist. Command 42 arrived on scene with fire showing on B and C corner of the structure. Engine 57-5 was first on scene, and instructed to place one 1 3/4 handline in service. Crews from Engine 42-4 under the direction of Fire Chief 42-15 ( William Carpenter ) place a second handline in service. Command 42 placed the incident under control at 0150 hrs with all units remaining on scene until appx 0230hrs. Units responding: Engine 42-4, Tanker 42, Engine 57-5, Engine 57-2, Tanker 57, 42 Firepolice.
Monday, January 16, 2012 At 10:19 hours Carlisle along with Ambulance 75 was alerted to an MVC at the intersection of Shawnee and Abbotts Pond Roads. Command 42 with 42-19 (Assistant Chief Ingram) responded and upon arrival Command 42 established command confirming a two vehicle MVC with one vehicle off of the roadway. Rescue 42 responded with 42-17 (Assistant Chief Vanaman), Command 42 assigned the Rescue and crew with vehicle stabilization as well as assisting Ambulance 75 with patient removal from the vehicle. Engine 42-5 responded with 42-25 (Chief Engineer Klaus), Command 42 assigned Engine 5’s crew with assisting the Rescue. Engine 42-4 responded and was assigned to stand-by on the road side and hold its crew. One patient was transported by Ambulance 75 to Milford Memorial Hospital. Command placed the incident under control at 10:35 hours with all units back at station at 10:49 hours. Units Responded: Command -42, Rescue-42,Engine 42-5, Engine 42-4, 42 Fire Police, Ambulance 75 and Delaware State Police
Thursday, January 12, 2012 At 11:31 hours Carlisle was alerted to a mulch fire located on the 600 block of Cicada Lane. Command 42 with 42-19 (Assistant Chief Ingram) responded. Upon arrival Command 42 reported two (2) small piles of mulch on fire with exposures to a shed. Brush 42 responded with 42- 21(Captain Hinton), Command 42 assigned the Brush Truck and crew with placing the hose reel line in service with extinguishing both fires. Tanker 42 responded with 42-15(Chief Carpenter), Command 42 assigned the Tanker to stage on roadway and be ready to refill the brush unit if necessary. The incident was declared under control at 11:42 hours and all units were back at station at 12:03 hours. Units Responded: Command 42, Brush 42 & Tanker 42 Photos By: Bill Carpenter
Saturday, January 7, 2012 On this date January 7, 1929 is recognized as the only Line of Duty Death the Carlisle Fire Company has endured. Although we are limited in the details, Minos Scott, a blacksmith by trade died from injuries while engaged in Fire Company activities. Fire Company lore indicates his injuries resulted responding to a fire while riding on the side board of Truck 2. The accident occurred sometime during the month of December 1928 rounding the curve on the Milford to Slaughter Beach Road now referred to as Cedar Beach Road. Minos was layed to rest by members of the Carlisle Fire Company on January 10, 1929 in the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Milford.
Thursday, January 5, 2012 At 20:52 Carlisle was alerted to an MVC with entrapment in the 600 block of North DuPont Boulevard. At 20:54 Command 42 (42-19, Ingram) and Ambulance A-42 (Career Staff) responded. At 20:58 Command 42 arrived reporting a 2 vehicle MVC with entrapment and established DuPont Blvd Command. Rescue 42 responded under the command of 42-18 (Assist Chief Griffith). Engine 42-5 responded under the command of 42-15 (Chief Carpenter) as well as Engine 42-4 under the command of 42-17 (Assist chief Vanaman). Command assigned Rescue 42 and crew aboard with extrication. Engine 5’s crew was assigned with securing the scene as well as deploying a trash line while extrication operations were taking place. Engine 4’s crew was assisted to assist with extrication. Extrication was completed at 21:07 and one patient was transported by A- 42 and medic 101 to Milford Hospital. Remaining occupants involved were evaluated at the scene requiring no transport. The scene was declared under control at 21:09 with all units back in quarter’s at 21:29. Responding Units: CMD 42, R-42, 42-5, 42-4, AMB A-42, SCEMS MEDIC 101, 42 FIRE POLICE, and MILFORD PD. Photos By: Chief Carpenter
