Monday, April 9, 2012 The Officers and Members of the Carlisle Fire Company extend our sincere condolences to the Men and Women of the Philadelphia Fire Department following the loss of Lieutenant Robert Neary, assigned to Ladder 10, Platoon "C" as well as too Firefighter Daniel Sweeney, also assigned to Ladder 10, Platoon "C" . Carlisle also extends our heartfelt thoughts and prayers to the Neary and Sweeney families during these difficult times.
Monday, April 9, 2012 At 16:29 hours, Carlisle was alerted to assist Station 75 (Ellendale) with a debris pile file at Green Top Road and Crabapple Lane. At 16:35, Brush 42 responded with (42-15 Chief Carpenter) followed by Tanker 42 with (42-17 Assistant Chief Vanaman). Upon arrival Command 75 assigned Brush 42 to assist FR-13 (Delaware Department of Forestry) plow while Tanker 42 and Engine 42-2 was assigned to supply water to 75 units. Crews from the tanker and Engine 2 were assigned to assist Station 75 personnel with extinguishment. Command 75 declared the scene under control at 17:00 hours. Carlisle units began returning at 17:22 hours and all units were back in quarters at 17:31. Units Responded: Brush-42, Tanker-42, Engine 42-2, 42 Fire Police
Sunday, April 8, 2012 At 14:31 hours Carlisle was alerted to a small outside fire on Allen Way, Banneker Heights. Command 42 (42-19 Assistant Chief Ingram) while enroute to the initial alarm was notified by Kent Center of a second alarm for a mulch fire at 698 N. DuPont Boulevard , Milford Plaza Shopping Center resulting in a second alarm being sounded. Kent Center then advised Command that a tree on Allen Way had become involved with possible extension into the building. Prior to Command going on scene, Kent Center advised of a third alarm in the district at the 200 Building on Allen Way for an automatic alarm. Upon arrival Command had determined that the mulch on the exterior side of the building was on fire and in fact extended into the building. At 14:36 hours Engine 42-5 responded with (42-17 Assistant Chief Vanaman) and upon arrival at 203 Allen Way and deployed a 1 3/4” cross lay line extinguishing the fire on the exterior side of the building. Ladder 42 responded with (42-18 Assistant Chief Griffith) and upon arrival Command assigned the ladder crew investigate the interior of unit 203 for potential extensions with the assistance of a thermal imaging camera. Tanker- 42 with (Firefighter Brennon Fountain) responded and was assigned upon arrival to deploy personnel to assist both Engine 5 as well as Ladder 42’s crews. While on scene at Allen Way, Brush 42 responded with (42-21 Captain Hinton) handling the second alarm at the Plaza S/C without incident, returning back to the Station and reassigning the crew on Rescue 42 and responded to the initial alarm at Banneker Heights. The building suffered minimal damage to the shutters and one broken window. The third alarm, the automatic alarm was found to be as a direct result of the smoke from the initial mulch fire at 203 Allen Way. Saturday, April 7, 2012 At 10:27 hours B-42 with (Career Staff) responded to a minor two vehicle MVC at the intersection of Causey Avenue and Church Street. Upon arrival and following initial assessment it was determined that entrapment was eminent with multiple injuries a full station response was required. At 10:30 hours Carlisle was alerted to the same location. Command 42 responded with (42-19 Assistant Chief Ingram) directly to the scene. Rescue 42 responded at 10:34 hours with (42-17 Assistant Chief Vanaman). Upon arrival Command established Causey Avenue Command and assigning Rescue 42 with extrication. Engine 42-5 responded with (42-23 Lt. Caiola) and was assigned upon arrival to deploy a 1 ¾ “trash line as well as assist with extrication operations. A second ambulance was requested resulting in Carlisle volunteers responding in A-42. Sussex County Medic 101 responded however the unit was cancelled by EMS personnel on the scene due to the minor injuries of the patients involved. Engine 42-4 responded with (42-18 Assistant Chief Griffith) and was assigned to assist the ambulances with removal and packaging of the patients. Extraction was completed where patients were removed, packaged and transported to Bay Health Milford Memorial. Causey Avenue Command declared the scene under control at 10:47 hours and all units were back in quarters at 10:51. Saturday, April 7, 2012 Life Ring Committee Members continued installing Life Ring Stations at pre designated locations throughout the city targeting various bodies of water that typically attract people along or near their shore banks. Committee Members installed 2 Life Ring Stations along Silver Lake. One Station was installed on Lakeview Avenue near the spillway on Maple Avenue. The second installation was near the intersection of Lakeview and Kings Highway. Another installation was performed at the public boat ramp to the Mispillion River behind the Police Department. In addition, a life ring station installation occurred at the Goat Island Pavilion as well as 2 installations along the Riverwalk on the North and South sides of the pedestrian bridge that crosses over the Mispillion River. Friday, April 6, 2012 At 22:18 hours Carlisle was alerted to an MVC Rollover with entrapment at the intersection of Wilkins and Johnson Roads near Lincoln. Command 42 responded with (42-19 Assistant Chief Ingram) and assumed Johnson Road Command. 42-16 (Deputy Chief Mriss) and Sussex County Medic 101 were first on scene advising entrapment involving a DODGE VIPER. Rescue 42 responded with (42-15 Chief Carpenter) and assigned extrication. At 22:30 hours Rescue 42 arrived, removing the driver’s side door, the roof, and conducting a dash roll. Engine 42-5 with (42-18 Assistant Chief Griffith) responded and was assigned to deploy a trash line and assist with extrication. 42-23 (Lt. Caiola) also on Engine 5 was assigned as the landing zone officer for Trooper 2. At 22:49 hours extrication was completed the patient was removed, packaged and medi-vac to Christiana Medical Center by Trooper 2. At 22:53 hours, Johnson Road Command declared the scene under control with units completing clean up operations. At 23:12 hours while still on scene, 42 was alerted to a second alarm at 8747 Cedar Creek Road for a reported working house fire. Engine 42-5 responded with (42-18 Assistant Chief Griffith) with Johnson Road Command transferring command of the first incident to 42-15 (Chief Carpenter) in order to respond on to the second incident. In addition to 42 Units responding, Kent Center alerted Kent County Stations 49, 50 & 52 as well as Sussex County Station 75, on Company Assist or Cover-Up Assignments. Command 42 and Engine 5 arrived on scene to find that the alarm which the concerned passer-by called in as a working structure fire was in fact a small outdoor bonfire. Command 42 declared the scene under control returning all Station 49, 50 and 75 units. Engine 52-5 was assigned cover-up until all units were placed back in service. Friday, April 6, 2012 At 15:14 hours Carlisle was alerted to assist Station 75 (Ellendale) Sussex County for a full company assist on a working house fire at 10915 Webb Farm Road. At 15:20 hours, Engine 42-5 responded with (42-15 Chief Carpenter). Tanker 42 with (Deputy Chief Mriss) responded along with Engine 42-4. While Engine 5 was enroute, Command 75 advised 42-15 upon arrival his crew would be responsible for interior fire attack in the attic. Tanker 42 was assigned to supply Tanker 75 and Engine 4 was also assigned water supply to the scene. At 16:25 hours Command 75 released Station 42 apparatus with all units back in quarters at 16:36 hours. Units Responded: Engine 42-5, Tanker 42-6, Engine 42-4, 42 Fire Police Units. Thursday, April 5, 2012 At 09:59 hours, Carlisle was alerted to an MVC, Vehicle into the Building at the Milford Manor Nursing Home, 700 Marvel Road. 42-15 (Chief Carpenter) arrived on scene establishing Marvel Road Command. A-42 and B-42 with (Career Staffs) arrived on the scene. One crew administered patient care the operator of the vehicle while the second crew investigated inside the facility for any additional injuries. Rescue 42 responded at 10:05 hours with (42-17 Assistant Chief Vanaman) and was advised by Marvel Road Command upon arrival to secure the vehicle and assist the Ambulance Crew with patient care. Engine 42-5 as well as 42-4 responded and was assigned to stage on Marvel Road. Marvel Road Command requested a Building Inspector from the City to make a response due to the nature of the incident. Command declared the scene under control at 10:13 hours. One patient was transported to Bay Health Milford Memorial where units began returning at 10:19 hours. Saturday, March 31, 2012 Following an early start to the day with attending the Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast, members quickly switched gears and began working on final preparations for this afternoon Chicken & Dumpling Dinner in Greir Hall. The Ladies through everything they had in high gear to insure every detail was done to perfection for the many guests that attended the event. Saturday, March 31, 2012 Earlier today Officers and Members of Carlisle and the Ladies Auxiliary attended the Annual Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast hosted at the Milford Senior Center at 111 Park Avenue. Citizens as well as members from the business community joined together with our Mayor and members of the City Council. Throughout the morning of fellowship and a great breakfast this year’s key note speaker was Delaware’s US Senator Chris Coons. At the conclusion of this year’s event, the member’s hurried home to change and return to the fire house to begin final preparations for the afternoon public dinner.
